Brother YusefBluesman Brother Yusef  (USA) –

Brother Yusef has been described as a master solo guitarist, as well as a uniquely pas-sionate vocalist. He has honed down his guitar skills and god-given vocals for over thirty years and has created a sound that had to be christened with a new name, Fattback Blues. Fattback Blues combines “traditional” finger picking and slide guitar playing with the contemporary feel of urban blues to create a full band sound with one guitar. He uses his right hand thumb to beat out a percussive bass-line and shuffle, while the index finger plays rhythm and lead lines.
Today, Brother Yusef has six albums under his belt and has demonstrated that there is growth in mastery and longevity in an industry that tempts artists to change in order to fit in. His new album (scheduled release date: summer 2014) is carefully being crafted at his home studio and will include all original material that will not waver, but stay true to his unique, raw and intense emotions to encompass the Fattback sound.
He remembers first hearing the call of the Blues as a young child attending church with his grandparents in Bakersfield, California. Like any young musician, hungry for musical enlightenment he picked up a guitar at age 19 and began experimenting with reggae, r&b and jazz. He would find himself at a musical crossroads in 1989 while paying his last respects to his grand-father at the same little Bakersfield church from his childhood. A soloist at the funeral played a soothing church hymn on guitar that instantly connected Yusef to his grandfather, elders, and ancestors in the rich tradition of the blues.
Brother Yusef has gained recognition from audiences and musicians throughout North America and Europe for his range of sounds and emotions -sadness, joy, anger and laughter. His fans are also found in places as far as Asia, Australia, and parts of Africa. Sharing the joy of the Blues with the world is his deepest passion..

היביThe Heeby Gee Bees (IL) –

The Heeby Gee Bees, one of Israel’s leading blues acts, are renowned for their energetic live shows, and their fantastic intrepertation and performance of many blues and rock classics. The band has gigged non stop since day one, and has gained a reputation for being one of the country’s hardest working bands.

The Heeby Gee Bees began their way in late 2006 as an acoustic blues duo. Guy Dagan (lead vocalist and vistuoso harmonica player) and Assaf Barak (guitar and vocals) met, like many modern couples, on the internet… Dagan (son of famous Israeli soul singer Tzila Dagan and actor Ezra Dagan), with a long career of acting and music behind him, and Barak, who has played guitar with numerous bands and artists, found a common language in the blues. The two began performing together in an acoustic show entitled Lightnin’ Hits The Rye (which recently also came out on CD), playing blues, rock and soul classics.

About a year later, they decided to put together an electric band, and summoned two of
Israel’s veteran blues cats, bassist Roughy Yedidia and drummer Yechiel Brower. A little later on the band added the amazing Kfir Tzairi on keyboards. Ever since its conception, the band has gigged non stop all over the country, with a current monthly average of 12-13 shows.

The Heeby Gee Bees take the audience on a fascinating journey to the roots of blues, rock and soul music, with unforgettable performances of classic song by such greats as Muddy Waters, BB King, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Freddie King, Albert King, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and many others.

Along the years the band has played numerous events and festivals (headlining the 2012
“Jacobs Ladder Festival”, the largest folk/blues/country music festival in Israel, and playing one of the main stages of “Yaarot Menashe Festival” in 2013). They have collaborated with local and international blues artists (Lee Oscar, Mitch Woods, Delmark Goldfarb, Brian Cober, Efraim Shamir, Aryeh Moskuna).

In the near future, the Heeby Gee Bees are planning to record another album – this time
with a full band, which will include original songs, as well as take their act abroad and out of the country – to blues festivals and venues in Europe, The USA, and anywhere else they can.
